My cousin told the entire family that I was engaged before I got the chance-- we had previously been very close and so I told her around the same time I told my parents, and I had planned to make an announcement very shortly after. And I wasnt even there when she spilled the beans, so I didn’t get to see anyones reaction or anything, and she swore them to secrecy to cover it up so I had no idea. By the time I came out with it it was old news and no one was all that excited for me anymore. I don’t think I’ll ever trust her again. It’s just not worth it to spill a secret before you’re supposed to, especially if it’s not your secret.

OLM mentioned that her DS had yet another interview for a job, @ 2 hours away, on 2/14. I suspect he got the job

^^^do you think he had her sign a NDA?
It is something I can imagine one of my nephews doing.

What a hen house.

Tell a secret and jinx the outcome. Shame on all of you for tempting OLM.

Best way to hold a secret is to change the topic.; Therefore:
- Give yourself the liberty to put in your journey on selling and buying a new house, on that thread, “taking the first step on selling …”
Unless, the secret is the house.

You can tell me, I’m a guy and don’t really care. :)

No one here thinks that OLM can be tempted. The hens are just having fun.

LOL

Yep, When we found out I was pregnant with S1, my mother was the first person I called.
I think she told every person our family had ever known before I had a chance to tell anyone. I understood that she was excited but I was really disappointed that I didn’t get to tell the great news myself.

Isn’t it funny how we are as people, good news or bad, we all want the chance to share our own story. I was really annoyed with my mother for telling every one about upcoming surgery, it was my story to tell or not tell.

Yet, we all are excited to know OLMs secret. :D

Two secrets I’m bad at keeping: happy ones and juicy gossip, but only of people I don’t know well or at all, or if it’s about a close friend then I might tell it but without her/his name mentioned and only to someone who doesn’t know him/her. Does that make it OK?

We should have a pool going…Is it
- Baby
- Marriage
- New job
- “My favorite uncle died, and left me all of his money…”
- My kid just a likely letter from HYPSM

I vote for 3.

I’m thinking a new job with the CIA. or FBI

oldfort - I think you should add a house possibility to the list. I remember several years ago when the OP was relocating and how involved she got in the process of finding the perfect craftsman house. I can’t remember how it turned out, but maybe this secret has something to do with housing, which she really can’t refer to until the contract has been signed by all parties.

I think the OP was also on The Price is Right and won the showcase just prior to moving. At any rate, she seems to live an exciting life!

I’m also fortunate to be married to a great secretkeeper–nothing I tell him gets shared. (He doesn’t even always remember the secret anyway.) Generally, I don’t have trouble keeping secrets and fortunately, most of mine are happy ones.

Congrats to OP that she has a happy secret that she’s bursting to share with us as soon as the time is ripe!

I will post as soon as I can spill the beans. So many interesting guesses…I wish it was a new house - I love my house, but I’ve decided I really want a country property(partly so I can have a henhouse and keep a few chickens and have a sheep or goat for my border collie and maybe even a horse, I’ve fallen in love with haflingers).
No babies on the way, DS is still waiting to hear about the job. I suspect he’ll hear today, I’m keeping my fingers crossed for him. If it was about a marriage, it would be a very different thread - if DS was getting married to his current GF, I think I’d be trying to figure out if I really could stand up at the wedding and object.

You had to sign something? Did you win? A game show? Lottery? A drawing? You won SOMETHING!!! YAY!!! Congrats.

haflingers are cool
that leaves

job news (best bet?)

lottery, inheritance…

contest

I think OP was on a game show and won a big prize, but had to sign an agreement not to publicize the results until the show airs.

Is this deja vu?

She’s the new American Idol?

She beat Watson on Jeopardy?

I like the game show idea!
