See You Later

I just posted on the MITAdmissions blogs the following entry:

[See You Later | MIT Admissions](See You Later | MIT Admissions)

TLDR: I’m taking a leave of absence for the coming year to do my masters here at MIT. The office is holding my position, but I will not be working for admissions.

This was - as I say in the entry - an easy decision, but one which will be difficult to live with. This is not only the best job I have ever had, but I could not dream of loving a job more; it will be difficult to step away, if only for a time.

I do not imagine I will be able to post much on MITCC this coming year. My interim replacement - also named Chris - may. I’m not sure what his username will be but we will try to keep it as unconfusing as possible (hint: it may not be possible).

I do want to thank everyone in this forum. Three years ago when I began it was a wretched hive of scum and villany. That is much less true today, in large part because so many people have devoted so much time to changing the culture of this subforum, and to helping the people within it.

Thanks everyone.

oh hey Chris way to also be doing your masters at the Media Lab next year, I didn’t realize I was such a trendsetter.

baller. email me!

Wow, you will be missed! Thank-you for all your kind and patient answers, Chris. You’ve always “gone the extra mile” and tried to keep things positive; many times, that was a difficult task.

Live Long and Prosper

Hey! We’re still a wretched hive of scum and villainy!

Best of luck! You will be missed.

@mollie -

it would disappoint me if you ever changed

Yes, I always strive to be scum, though I do try to avoid the villany, unless of course villany would be amusing in context.

No villainy at MIT? What happened to Talk Like a Pirate Day? :D
