Hello
I’m currently in the process of exploring potential college majors and need guidance in making this important decision.
I’m interested in hearing about your experiences and suggestions regarding choosing a college major.
Below are few questions I have:
- How did you decide on what basis on your college major? What factors influenced your decision?
- Were there any resources or tools that you found helpful in exploring different majors?
- What advice would you give to someone who is undecided about their college major?
If you have any tips for someone who is in the process of choosing a college major, I would greatly appreciate .
Thank you in advance !
Thank you

For my DD’19, we went to the course catalogs. She looked at a list of majors at a public U that had lots of options. When one sounded interesting, she went to the list of required classes and their descriptions to see if it still sounded interesting.
Once narrowed down, you can then look at the kinds of jobs that might go with that major. Look on Indeed, talk to people in the field. Not all majors lead to a specific job, and that’s something to think about too. DD wanted one that did, though her major does lead to a variety of options. It also related to the jobs she did in the summers after junior and senior year of HS so she was pretty confident in it by then.

Are you a HS student or already in college? (I ask because your first post was on a transfer thread).
If you are already in college, make an appointment at your school’s career center. There are career and interest inventories that they can administer that may help you pinpoint a major.
If you are in HS, I would encourage you not to worry too much as many students are undecided and change their minds. Just be sure to apply to a school where you either don’t need to declare your major until sophomore year, or where it is easy to change majors.
Lastly, my D found shadowing professionals in different fields to be helpful.

Sadly, I need to close this thread since the OP is posting under false pretenses.
