Save some for Saturday’s mint juleps, Owlice.

Yup! Ladurie does ship! Yes, the hot chocolate is amazing, rodney. and right across an alley is an English language movie theater – great for tired feet and very old Paris, red velvet and all that.

I must admit that with acceptances proliferating, I can’t keep up with where everyone is going! and I am wrong in thinking some people haven’t said? That’s okay.

Privacy is fine in vigil lounge, as long as it’s not early senility setting in (with me I mean.)

Yes, Paresky, the new student center, is wonderful. Very Norwegian ski-loungish, in keeping with Williams’ overall style.

The new library (thank god, Sawyer is the ugliest building I have ever seen though momrath’s architect son disagrees with this) will be done in 2011, just when S graduates!! Sigh. nceph’s S will be luckier.

And poor D. Her teeny-tiny four acre campus has been eaten up by the building of the Nexus (now Vangelos Student Center) an incredible multipurpose award winning building. But again, it will open at Barnard just as D graduates. She is a little put out. S doesn’t care, but then his 500 acre campus is not as intruded upon as Barnard’s little cozy one.

Paresky is right near Chapin Hall so it is easy to hear S give a concert and then watch him eat disgusting mozzarella sticks.

Hi all! Any news Kitkat? I am assuming you are waiting to hear about FA…I can’t believe the schools woud string you along this long!!
Lindz, mythmom, 2forcollege, thanks for your encouragement. Dear D has still not made her decision and she is getting visibly nervous. She is currently consulting her flute instructor and an appt to speak with her flute instructor from last summer’s program. Poor kid, you can just see her quivering on the horns of this dilemma (what an image!!!)

I am so ready for the celebration on Thurs May 1st!!! I can add some wonderful marinaded, barbequed shrimp to the celebration!

Oh, and flute concert for May Day! Definitely!

You know, I am sure my D would love to play flute for May Day!

Flute concert will be lovely on May Day!

Wedgedrive, does your D have trouble making decisions of other kinds, or is it just this one that is paralyzing her? My S normally has huge trouble with decisions-- but for some reason this one just emerged. Maybe because for once I limited my input! Whatever her choice, I hope she will be able to enjoy having it done with in a couple of days.

Flutes and margaritas! I am there!

Acme, most decisions are tough for her.

my son made his decision so quickly I had to stop myself from questioning his choice–“but what about??” my kids always mock my indecision–but in a nice way

We survived DS’s transition to college–he is now a junior. However, DD’s departure leaves us all by ourselves. So…DH has suggested a VACATION. We have only taken one vacation, ever. This one will be to see the Redwoods in N. California, if we really go this time.

DD’s graduation marks the end of homeschooling through our school district’s alternative independent study. It is a big jump from homeschooling parents to mere helicopter parents. Seriously.

Where would you go for an empty-nest get-on-with-your-life vacation?

operamom–that is a big change—
add Napa Valley to that Redwoods trip and you will be in heaven–wine tasting, gorgeous landscape, and its peaceful – biking thru Napa was the best…

my son’s last day of school is Friday–omigod–that is too soon, how did this happen?? he’s even admitted some sadness–

Great idea, lindz126. I would love a little vacation to Napa Valley! Operamom, you should definitely incorporate that into your visit to the Redwoods.

kitkat, stay strong - you’ll get through this.

I can’t wait for the decision day barbecue/luau - what a terrific idea! What can I bring?

Northern California: Drive along the Pacific Coast Highway north from SF. Stop for sunsets. Dip toes gingerly in the water (it’s cold!).

Mythmom-
Ya got me… paresky??? who/what is that???

NCeph-

I didn’t know they were remodelling Main. Are they fixing the awful, bland entrance, and perhaps returning more to the original entrance up tot he second floor? That would be grand. Not handicapped accessible in its original form, but grand.

Wedgedrive-- As long as she has a good supportive parent, she will come away feeling good about her choice whatever it is. Please let us know when she finally makes the choice so we can give a cheer.

Oh. It’s the new student center at Williams you asking about jym.

Just wanted to pop my head in to say my daughter’s physics lab partner who was accepted to Harvard, Princeton, Yale and Stanford just dropped the “H” bomb on her in a Facebook message…he’s heading to Harvard. This came in the same message asking her to explain Wien’s displacement law…thanked her profusely, adding her explanation finally made sense of it, that she is a better teacher than the old dude who stands up in front of the class every day. How astute of the young fellow to notice. I guess Harvard does accept the brilliant – after all, he was smart enough to pick a cute smart lab partner on whose coattails he could coast to finals! What, me? Bitter?! Never ;)

Haha. Our trips are visiting DD and DS.

jnsq: I swear I think she’ll get just as good an education at Smith. Some might say better. And this difference in prestige is so minimal.

DS’s ex-girlfriend’s father (is that convoluted enough?) went to Princeton and Columbia grad school in the same field that I went to State U in (no glamorous State U.) We have exactly the same job, only my institution is a bit nicer and a bit closer. (We live in the same town.)

So let him drop away. WE know how cool your D is. It gets better.

nceph, yes, she’s going to be a Wolverine in the fall! Though we go to a Superbowl party every year, I don’t think she’s ever watched a football game before (she goes to an arts school). She does love to watch soccer, I wonder if they have a team for that? GO BLUE!!!

It really helps to hear so many positive things about the school and that there are going to be other nice kids there. She’s a bit nervous about how big it is, but really is happy about the program she’ll be in there.

Wedgedrive and kitkat, we’re here for you to the end! ::Here’s some hot milk and homemade cookies to help you sleep tonight::

operamom, another vote here for Napa and a drive along the coast to San Francisco, then over to the Redwoods. You and your H will love it! Side note, I had the best burger, fries and milkshake EVER at a local drive-in at Napa. You can’t miss the place, it’s on the main road and full of cars.

As for crying, I held it together just fine until I watched my older D walk away from our car back to her dorm. I just started crying hysterically. I must have sat there for an hour before it stopped…thankfully, she never knew. I can’t imagine what it will be like leaving my younger one so far from home. As long as I hold it together until we depart.
