Seeking feedback on leadership scholars and honors

Hi, D was accepted as a leadership scholar. Anyone have feedback? Is it an actual community where they interact throughout the year or more just a scholarship?

Also she isn’t sure if she will apply to honors, so we are also seeking feedback on that. I know they all live together, she is a bit worried that the honors dorm will be too quiet and not as social as she would like. She likes the small classes and the additional advising support, but is curious about the vibes. I think they would be in Sadler, which seems like a nicer dorm and a good location for a Maxwell kid. Thanks!

My kid is a leadership scholar and in honors. For his home college (not Maxwell) they had a 1 credit seminar first semester for the leadership scholars. My kid liked it and said it was useful. But I wouldn’t say there’s a community beyond that.

He applied to honors and the application was easy. He is enjoying the honors program. He likes the honors classes, and LOVES the priority registration. They did some additional orientation activities.

Sadler is a nice dorm and I wouldn’t worry about it being too quiet (since my kid says people on his floor are really into watching sports and partying). He almost chose an LLC for his home college and I think he wishes he would have only because he has related best with people in his college. I think ~20% of honors freshmen lived in an LLC other than Honors this year? Honors is worth it for the priority registration alone and the LLC is nice (unless she finds a different LLC she’d prefer).

My kiddo is also a leadership scholar and in Honors. She lives in Sadler. Almost all of her friends are also leadership scholars and in Honors. ANd HA! No worries about Sadler not being social. Yes, her floor is quiet. But they are VERY social and go out all the time. They are all definitely in the work hard, play hard group.

My daughter is in A&S (forensic science) and I just cannot tell you enough how much she loves SU. She is absolutely thriving. SO many opportunities. Priority registration for classes is huge. I think pretty much if you’re a leadership scholar, you are accepted into Honors.

Your daughter will be surrounded by high achieving students. My daughter says her friend group are all “ivy league rejects” LOL! Amazingly bright kids.

Love this! Thank you, she committed this week and has applied to honors. The leadership scholar reception was impressive, they really made them feel special. We like the priority registration and Sadler seems nicer than most, and a good location. We should hear back soon on honors. Fingers crossed!

She will get into Honors  Glad she committed! It is a fantastic school. Sadler is a great dorm, especially on game day at the Dome!
