Seeking Guidance on Applying to UCB

Hello everyone,

I’m an international student interested in applying to the University of California, Berkeley (UCB) for a chemistry program. I would greatly appreciate any advice or insights you could share regarding the application process, particularly tips for writing a strong personal statement, recommendations, or extracurricular involvement.

If anyone is willing to connect and share their experiences or guidance, I would be incredibly grateful. Thank you in advance for your help!

Are you applying as a Freshman Undergraduate, Transfer or for a Graduate program?

Well, to start off, if you applying as an undergrad, UC Berkeley only accepts recommendations upon request. Otherwise, you do not submit such letters with your application. And the UC application does not have a personal statement - it has 4 PIQs. So I think the first step is to familiarize yourself with the UC application and requirements.

First tip…be sure that UCB is affordable at over $75,000 USD per year…because you likely won’t be getting any financial aid.
