Hey everyone, happened to link back to this site and boy did it bring back memories!

Half a year ago i was in exactly your shoes! Came on to this site almost everyday and read practically every thread there was…All the discussions and all the posts are so darn similar its uncanny…

I know what its like to be keeping your fingers crossed and how painful it is to know that one single envelope can make so much difference in your lives.

I guess i was really lucky that i got accepted eventually (I applied regular decision to columbia, btw, but i’ll be matriculating only next year cz i’m now serving in the army, so i’ll be going over together with you guys =) I’m from Singapore…anyone here from there? It’ll be great to get to know each other!

I still have the acceptance email that columbia sent me, its in one of my archives somewhere, makes for a morale boosting read every now and then…haha…

Just want to tell all of you to take things easy, there’s always hope! The selection process is so convoluted that really, there’s always a chance, no matter how slim. My grades were normal, SAT 1570, but my ECs were really weak, nothing compared to some of you guys here who seem to have time to take oil samples in the Caspian and save tigers in India while on a full courseload. None of that for me. I had only ONE ec…so oh well…Furthermore you guys are awaiting ED results, so all the more reason to breathe a little easier…

Yeah im serving NS now, definitely be the dumbest guy to matriculate next year. Im sure you know what i mean.

I can’t remember what it might have been that made me stood out, my essay was pretty solid i thought but recycled…but i think for columbia the interview is VERY IMPORTANT. VERY VERY IMPORTANT. because that was the only component i think i excelled at. Who interviewed you? If its the same one who interviewed me i think you might have a better than average chance, honestly.

", definitely be the dumbest guy to matriculate next year. Im sure you know what i mean. "… what you mean cus of NS?

You know Mr. Serwer (the lawyer)… he interviewed me a month ago… I thought it went well. Who interviewed you? And why do you think he/she was so good, and made your chances higher?
I go to UWCSEA on Dover Road…

Oh you aren’t singaporean i gather? Columbia takes in quite a few from UWC I think, I can give u a list of all the accepted applicants from Singapore for RD '04 if you want via msn or something. At this stage I was grabbing at every morsel of information and I guess u are too…

I can’t remember exactly who my interviewer was. Chinese female. Young. Need something to jog my memory. But I was told from the others during the yield reception that quite a few of those who got through were interviewed by her. Much more than average.

Don’t know if this means anything, but alot more girls than guys were accepted, if i remember correctly. I was the only male applicant at the reception…

“Don’t know if this means anything, but alot more girls than guys were accepted, if i remember correctly” - yeh even from the CC posters last year… I noticed that there were far more girls that got accepted than guys…
It’s weird.

Do you not know how many ED applicants got accepted from Singapore?

How many RD applicants got accepted last year?
I’ll add you on msn… if I can log in (it’s being screwy with me)
