Difficult to say. I was in high school during the time period so it rang many emotional bells with me, and I loved the music. It was the time when his voice was most lyrical (not a whole lot, I agree) but the actors really captured the quality of each singer’s voice. And his early songs were the best up to and including the electric debut, imho.
I am not a huge fan of Dylan’s music, but I enjoyed the movie.
Dylan the singer/performer, meh. Songwriter, one of the greatest in modern times. I always send Dylan lyrics to my kids when we have the inevitable “you listen to junk” conversation.
One the greatest ensemble pieces ever: https://youtu.be/rGEIMCWob3U?si=m-0cdnk_Dug3k7Rz
I like Dylan, but I really appreciate his lyrics.
I was kind of ambivalent about Bob Dylan, but thought the movie was really well done.
Replying to this post, as to not rehash the synposis/review. It is now free on Hulu. I really enjoyed this movie and the Chopin soundtrack. Very well done
silly fun with baby oil jokes
for both movie and car chase
No disrespect to anyone that enjoys Back In Action with Cameron Diaz and Jamie Foxx, but that was a bad film. Not funny, a likable antagonist, predictable story and not even remotely believable.
We turned it off part way through!
Just finished watching Wild Robot. As usual, my husband was all defensive about watching “another cartoon.” When we were done, he was applauding the filmmakers! What a heartwarming, sweet, and funny movie,
and it will definitely resonate with the CC parent crowd.
After watching almost all of the Golden Globe Animated Feature nominees, we still agreed that Flow deserved to win.
I watched it tonight as I just wanted something to take my mind off of things and it was the first thing that popped up. Why not!
The dialogue was so wooden I really just had to laugh, it was entirely what used to be called a B Movie, but this was a B Movie with an obvious “capital-B” Budget, which clearly went towards all the over the top action and not to a screenwriter.
Many great actors! But such a terrible script and they were clearly there as a check cashing exercise. Some films are like that
Watched Conclave at movie museum for $5. It was engrossing with several plot twists. Excellent acting and sets.
Thanks @BKSquared. Great ensemble. Bittersweet to think of those still with us only in their songs and spirits.
Nobel Prize in Literature 2016.
beware it’s all dialogue like before sunrise
I absolutely loved this, hit a little close to home.
I was happy to see Timothée Chalamet and A Complete Unknown get nominated for Oscars. (Maybe there should be a separate discussion about the Oscar nominations)
Woohoo Latvia!!!
No cinematography nomination for Conclave? Boo.
I really liked A Real Pain. I’m a big Succession fan so it was a little like Roman Roy goes on a trip with his cousin, but I enjoyed the slice of life story and all the larger themes it encompassed.
