<p>I recently got rejected by Cal and UCLA. I’m considering going to a CC and then trying to transfer in, but I’ve also gotten into a some pretty decent schools (UCSD, Barnard).</p>
<p>Should I just deal with it (after a letter of appeal)? Should I just go to UCSD instead?</p>
<p>I’ve wanted to go to Cal, but I don’t have overwhelming passion for it.</p>
<p>I’m concerned that I may not get a chance to go to UCSD if I try the transfer route and it doesn’t work out with Berkeley.</p>
<p>Or that I’ll end up slacking because of the laxer atmosphere in CCs (which has somewhat happened during senior year, and I don’t want a repeat of it.)</p>
<p>Or that I’ll miss out on 2 years of important social group development (which I’m definitely worried about since I’m not amazing at socializing).</p>
<p>But if I can get into Berkeley, I do want to try for it.</p>
<p>Advice?</p>
<p>my mother is a graduate of barnard, my father cal. both graduated uchastings school of law.</p>
<p>they said go to barnard. you will make better connections than ucsd. and you didn’t get into cal so move on. don’t put your life on hold for that.</p>
<p>Don’t do that CC thing, it just seems not good. Also, what do you think you can do over the next two years that could make you look better?</p>

I would love to go to Barnard actually, but the financial situation isn’t looking too swell for me over there.</p>

<p>What’s wrong with UCSD? Unless it is too expensive after financial aid, or does not offer the subjects you want to study, it seems like a perfectly fine choice.</p>
