Wow, my tour guide at UCSD was amazing and really hilarious. Bad luck?

Volunteer tour guides self select themselves.

Yeah.

I liked my tour guide on Admit Day and was one of the biggest reasons I became so in love with UCSD.

Yea, and of the 9 people in our connected suite, 3 rejected USC/UCLA/Northwestern for UCSD. Of the 3, engineering/bio/bio.

No offense, but our stories are the exception, not the rule.

There is no rule for what school you should attend.
Obviously some eyebrows are raised if you pass up Stanford for just about any other school, as an example. But I’ve totally accepted the fact that it’s all about where you’re most comfortable (and for some cases, where you can afford it). I can’t see myself lasting four years in a school that I hated.

So for people that passed up Stanford for UCSD, cool. People that passed up UCSD for UCSB, equally cool. As long as you make the best of your experience, then I’m happy for you… selectivity be damned.
