a *load of students from my schools with like… 3.4-3.5 Weighted GPA got into UCSD. A *LOAD of them, including me… what the gay?

We barely had a chance at UCD/UCSB/UCI and some of them who got into UCSD got rejected from UCSB. Why’s it so easy to get into UCSD now? I’d rather go to a school with higher selectivity rating…

I don’t know why I got in with a 3.3 weighted… but I have a feeling that the average GPAs we see for the UCs are off or something. How can all these people I know with 3.3s including me get accepted at a school with a 4.0 average???

I Had Absolutely No Intention Of Going To SD Until You Made That Comment… now i’m working on my SIR… you just inspired me to go attend… you gave me the push I needed, thank you so much… BTW you said that my GPA would bring the average down… I’m sorry that people with GPAs like mine get in while people with yours work so much harder and get in too :-).

I’m just kidding :-)… I would never give up Irvine… that’s my dream school… I understand that you must have worked your a** off to get that 3.4 GPA, so I understand your frustration about unworthy me getting in with a .1 GPA lower than yours. That must be devastating and for that I apologize.

amiradaprincess…just out of curiousity, why is UCI ur dream schoool…i live in irvine and i certainly dont find any appeal to it…so what makes it so special to u?

im just curious, please dont take my question the wrong way, UCI is a great school

For me (cuz I live in Orange County), UCI is close enough to where I don’t have to waste money on dorms, and far enough so that I never have to be home. It’s the most prestigious university in our county and I really like living here and don’t wanna move. UCSD is a great school, but not that much greater than UCI to the point that I would pay and additional 9 or 10 grand to live there. Thats just my personal opinion :-).

I know plenty of people that turned down UCLA/UCB and even Stanford for UCSB, including myself. So yea, just to clarified some things up for you. And some of the big reasons why they did so is because of the environment/social scene/friendly student body.

I think it’s weird that people would rather go to UCLA or UCB than UCSD. I know the prestige thing, but UCSD is still up there, and it just seems so much better in practically every way.

i dont really agree…I would rather go to UCLA than UCSD…I had better feeling about it when i was there over when I was at UCSD. But UCSD was still great and I would be extremely greatful to be accepted/attend there.

well its not about living in LA because personally I dont like the city, the traffic or anything but UCLA has an amazing campus and i had a great feeling there. Honestly, I loved the idea of UCSD more but when I visited both campus, I think the tour guide at UCLA was more fun and he made me really love the school by the way he talked about it. THe tour guide I had at UCSD was so unintersting and he made me almost not want to go there…he was really boring.
