I was curious about this. To me, any acceptance rate above 20% means greatly increased chances for 2300+/4.0 applicants to get accepted. I was specifically thinking about Cornell and Northwestern, as compared to Stanford or Dartmouth. While the latter seem like a complete crapshoot regardless of statistics, the former seem much more certain for the aforementioned applicant category. Is there any truth to my perceptions, or are they completely misguided?

There might be some truth to your perceptions, but remember 2300+ sat 4.0 gpa and a really bad rest of the application (comes across as really boring, does nothing else, etc) won’t be an auto accept either…
