Self-introspection vs. Community driven essays

Do colleges prefer either?

It seems like most admissions officers would prefer community/moral driven essays that involve things outside of yourself rather than discovering who you truly are.

From reading essay prompts, I get the opposite impression that you do. However, how you interact with the community and how you make moral decisions are certainly relevant.

They need you to show the personal qualities and strengths they want in their class. It’s not at all like a hs essay where you take a stand. The point is to reveal more of yourself than stats and EC lists can show.
