Self Study AP Physics B

To make a long story short… I took physics honors at a summer course last year, with minimal lab work. Now this year, I am planning to “re-self-study” AP Physics for the B exam. Since I am self studying, I will miss out on lab experience. Considering that at least one Free Response question deals with a lab/experiment/procedure thing, will this be a problem?

Note, I am pretty strong in physics and should do 5-quality work on all the other sections.

Would I still be OK? (related question: are the lab questions common sense so I would be able to make up a procedure without actually having done a similar lab??)

Thanks a lot.

This should be possible. Just be sure to begin studying right away and to review throughout the year.

I basically self studied AP Physics B. At my school you have to have a year of enriched physics before AP Physics B, where you learn everything except nuclear physics and quantum mechanics. I skipped that. I got a 5.

It’s really not that hard at all. The lab questions are basically common sense if you know the concept they are testing and more or less what each instrument you use is called.

Go to apcentral and look at some of the past free responses. It’s pretty simple.

OK thanks. By the way, the texbook I have is Serway and Faughn: College Physics. Is that AP level?

bump …
