Self-Study Question

I’ve been developing my interest in computer science through exploring the Ruby on Rails language while also exploring alternative languages. Now that it is AP test season, I remembered that there was an AP Computer Science test, which I’m now interested in preparing for.

If I self-study for AP Computer Science A, what book should I use?
Will the disappearance of Computer Science AB change which book I should get?
Should I supplement a study book with anything else?

So far I have only taken AP tests (World, U.S., French) after studying the subjects in an AP class. I have no idea what it would take to self-study for an entire test. My background in computers is modest and I’m sure I could become more advanced after studying for a while, especially because computers are one of my passions.
