Hi, this is my first post, i live in Colombia but i want to study in the USA.

Im a regular student, also my school is different from all, the teachers give me some work, i do it by myself and then i give it to they, so no notes just percent.

The SAT, APs and that things dont exist here but i want to study by myself and buy books and that, and then travel to usa and do the SAT and ACT exams.

Im fifteen and currently at tenth grade (junior grade here).

I want to study Earth Science on one of the Top colleges, something like Caltech or Stanford.

And i want to study the two years left for school.

Anyone could recomend what are the most important things that i should study?

This is my “Study Schedule example” ill study 4h/day and more on weekends.

Mon: Physics
Tue: Geology and astronomy (i can change this)
Wed: Biology
Thurs: Math
Fri: A little Us governement and social things.
Sat: all day math (exept night)
Sun: Chem and science

No, i just want to make a study plan to get a nice SAT, and get into a good college, this is why im asking here, but no i cant make any ap exams in my country.

your schedule is fine. the SAT doesn’t have physics or any science on it so don’t worry about that. you will need to know physics to get into one of those schools though, but you can take it later. you will also need SAT subject tests on at least one science subject and math 2 so you should take the science subject test after you finish that subject.

Are you learning calculus during school as well? Because if you are, then 7 additional hours each week is a tad absurd. If it’s what you need to get through your studies though, then go for it. Personally I would spend more time on chem and less on physics, maybe 4 hours physics 4 hours chem, but it’s your choice. As for US government: Personally I haven’t taken it, but if you write like you do on this forum then you’ll probably have difficulty with the free response questions. You may want to think about changing to another test or just abandoning it overall as you are already taking several tests. Don’t overload yourself with too much work.

Also consider taking the TOEFL, since I imagine english is not your first language.

Next, purchase a SAT review book and study, because the only things tested on it are English and simple math (algebra and geometry). The SAT book will give you more info. I recommend the Barron’s company.

Keep looking around CC to get a better idea of what US education is like and good luck!
