<p>If I mention on my apps that I’m self studying/working independently for 3 APs during my senior year…and obviously the colleges won’t have the score yet… will that be ignored by the admissions boards?..Or weighted less than taking the real hs ap course?</p>

<li><p>This depends on how rigorous your school AP courseload is. If you come from a school that only has 3 AP courses and you demonstrate initiative by self studying for 3 extra, that would help. If you come from a school with 20 AP courses, then it won’t be as “impressive.”</p></li>

<p>I self-studied for 9 AP courses over 3 years. I am convinced that it did help me in my MIT (and other colleges’ applications). My school only offered 5 AP courses.</p>

<p>My school offers many AP courses but with crazy graduation requirements and block scheduling…it’s difficult to fit them in…unfortunately I have mostly honors courses and I’m taking but 2 real ap courses…
plus I wanted so many art courses–not because they’re easy–because art is a major interest for me…
I’m thinking my school offers about 8 APs…but I want to study the ones that I truly want to learn… not AP lit…hence I’m applying to ‘no core curriculum’ colleges hoping they’ll understand…yeah</p>
