So…I am going to probably self-study AP Psychology, Statistics, and Environmental Science this year. Probably AP Comp Sci as well. Any ideas on how to accomplish this?? Like advice, good books, and websites… Thanks!!!

My biggest peice of advice for you is…start studying this summer. its alot better to study now when you dont have THAT much on your mind than wait till when school starts and then you’ll have to juggle EC’s, school courses, friends…yada yada yada…
I did the Psycology test this yr and i ended up doing pretty well…i studied from the princeton review book. For the other subjects idk but it kindda depends on you. sit down at your local bookstore and read a few pages from diffrent brands of books (PR, barrons…) and see which suits you best for each subject.
GOOD LUCK!!!

For AP Statistics, you should get Barron’s Prep Book. It’s the only book you’ll need to do well on the exam. But in case you need more help, get the “Statistics in Action” text book. It was written by the guy who originally helped design the ap statistics course and exam.

For Stat, McGraw-Hill’s “5 Steps to a 5” book is really good, but I mostly used it for review, not for learning all the material…

does self studying for ap exams and taking the exams w/o taking the class help ur application to the ivy leagues a lot?

No. Do it because you want to, not because you think it’ll help applications. Becaues even if it did help applications, it’d probably help very little if at all.

Yeah, don’t self-study AP’s just because you think colleges will be impressed. I have heard many stories of people who did that and regretted it because it never helped them when they went to college and they wasted a lot of time and money. So only self-study if you are interested.

I know someone that self-studied AP Physics and got a 5 and colleges were obviously impressed because he had a low GPA but mentioned this fact and still got into some prestigious colleges.

That being said, I second the “5 steps to a 5” it was an amazing book and the FR questions nearly matched this years test.
For Psychology I suggest Barrons.
Both books have good practice tests which gave me probably 5 MC questions for psych and as I said before, “5 steps to a 5” contained nearly EVERY FR question within the 2 practice tests, which was freaking amazing.

Manage your time well.
AP Stat is fairly ok, but idk about other subjects.
start studying as soon as possible :)

Good Luck ^_^

I self studied psych last year literally 4-5 days before the exam with barrons, and I’m confident I got a 5. So barrons is def. the way to go for psych.

I’m also self studying apes this year, and the books I’m using are smartypants and REA.

That’s exactly what I did this year. I’m also confident I got a 5.
