Self-teaching AP Physics B?

I am currently a junior and I transferred high schools this past year. At my old school, there were no honours prerequisite requirements for AP science classes (ie. we could take AP bio without honours) but at my new school, a previous honours class is required. I decided to take APES this year instead of Physics H due to the GPA lowering effect of an honors course which I’m actually regretting now since I intend on majoring in biochem.

So I was wondering if it would be a good idea to teach myself Physics B starting from now, extending till May of next year and not take the class but just the exam. I am worried about some things though, 1)Is Physics B a bad class to self-teach? 2)Will opting this course lower acceptance chances to Ivy’s (and Cal Berkeley) since I don’t have a reported grade for this course and I don’t have a score until the end of my senior year?

I’m not sure if this helps, but I took AP bio and chem my sophomore year and got a 5 and 4 respectively on the exam.

I wouldn’t bother, AP Physics B has so much material, and if you haven’t taken a Physics class before, I just think it would be too much. I mean, of course it’s possible, but I don’t think that it would be that likely for you to get a great grade on it

to hard, but that’s only me.

SAT II physics and AP Physics B are similar and I learned SAT II physics in 4 weeks and got a 750. I think you will do fine.

thanks for the suggestions. A question or meow360, did you previously take any physics courses before or did you just study off the prep book? If you studied off a prep book, which one did you use? thanks.
