I got into BHP and am very excited about it! Not sure if I want to attend though. I am an international so I can’t attend Discover BHP. Would really appreciate if you guys could sell UT BHP to me.

Thanks

Thanks

I’m considering a BMW 330d and am very excited about it! Not sure if I want to buy though. I am an international spy so I can’t get to google. Would really appreciate if you guys could google the info for me.

Your identity has been compromised. I am sorry to say that your job and you will be terminated. Forget the BMW and search funeral caskets RIP

Btw, if it wasn’t clear, by “selling” I meant pitching it, telling me how good it is. Sorry if the language was a bit confusing

burt…pay her no mind. I understand what you were seeking. If everything about every college could be found through Google, this forum would not exist.

The one thing that I would like to comment on after experiencing the BHP acceptance/recruitment period second hand as my child pursues his options is that their alumni continue to be very involved in the school. Alumni make acceptance calls to admitted students; they host events for prospective students in their homes; they return to the school to guest lecture; and they are extremely proud of the close-knit community that is BHP. I see this as an excellent networking opportunity if my son chooses BHP.

Good luck.

I haven’t decided yet where I want to work. Is the BHP network restricted to only texas?

yeh… I’m the one who demanded that people sell me on McCombs… sure… I’m the entitled brat.

In the next thread, I will demand Ted Cruz to sell me on Obamacare. Preferably free Obamacare that Cruz is paying on my behalf.

@burtmacklin. Not at all…they are all over the world.

@annie2018 Lighten up. He simply was being funny, phrasing a basic question in a humorous manner. If Brown rejects you, be cautious about coming to UT. Judgmental, “too serious” people don’t do well here. Try Dallas for that mentality. It would just be a better fit.

I agree with collegeshopping, your attitude, @annie2018, is the one that needs an adjustment. And I’m not referring only to this thread…

@collegeshopping @2jeter let’s just ignore her completely.

I have been reading up and Austin is apparently THE place to be for entrepreneurs. I spoke to a few people and according to many Austin is the fastest growing city in the USA. Articles like <a href=“Bijoy Goswami Doesn't Want Austin To Be The Next Silicon Valley | TechCrunch”>http://techcrunch.com/2013/06/02/bijoy-goswami-doesnt-want-austin-to-be-the-next-silicon-valley/ and <a href=“Why Austin is tech's new destination of choice | VentureBeat”>AgTech Company Bear Flag Robotics Raises $3.5 Million Seed Round Led by True Ventures | VentureBeat; make me feel more confident about UT. I have heard Austin even beats Silicon valley because SV has already peaked while Austin is developing at a rapid pace ! Is this an exaggeration ? Can you tell me more about this ?

My decisions come in on 27th and probably my choices are going to be between BHP, some top business schools (wharton, ross, stern) and top econ schools (NU, Uchic, maybe an Ivy). How do you think BHP compares to those ? I have been seeing ratings online and Mccombs is rated, Not BHP. Since Mccombs makes it in top 8 of virtually every list there is, BHP ranks at least in top 4-5 ?

The main factor that draws me to BHP is how I get ivy caliber academics at lower cost and I get to go to a school which tops every party school list. Am I being wrong in giving social scene so much importance in my decision ? I have heard things about Wharton (first choice , got deferred ED) being very cut-throat.

People in Austin are chill and enjoy learning from each other, not cutting each other down, but focusing on collaboration. I don’t think you can compare SV and Austin, as SV is very tech focused and although Austin is growing leaps and bounds in the tech sector, it is more of a major think tank than a tech giant.

No judgement from me for wanting a school on the “party school” circuit, but be careful about keeping a healthy balance. There is a thread on the Parent’s Forum right now about a student that stayed out too late celebrating a friends 21st and slept through two alarms and a presentation. No matter what school you attend that can spell disaster any where.

As far as trying to make decisions between BHP and other programs, you really need to put yourself in a holding pattern until you know where you land. Once that happens, make a pro and con list and go from there. Instead of looking at just rankings, try to base your decision on valve for the dollar. Typically a 7th ranked school that is much less expensive is a better value than a top 5 school that is a budget buster.

Search for an older thread by a UT business major. He discussed some pros and cons of BHP and of majoring in business vs econ in general.

@Lizardly, apparently the original poster can’t use Search. Besides, he wants someone to SELL him on why he should enter bhp.

@collegeshopping @2jeter - sadly, you don’t know the difference between ASKING for information about bhp and wanting someone to SELL you on bhp.

@lizardly I have been searching for the last one hour to no avail. Do you remember the title or the poster of the thread ?

@collegeshopping point taken! Moderation is the key. I literally get daily lectures from my mom, my cousins, my aunt, my cousin’s aunt, my aunt’s cousins and every other acquaintance about not being taken away or distracted by the american social scene. I have enough self-control to prfioritize my academics first and everything else second :)

BUMP! Would like to hear more opinions

Mod of this thread, is there any way to ban a poster if she is obstructing productive discussions with her obnoxious, senseless and stupid comments ?

“Ask a current McCombs student anything” from December 2013. The thread is locked, so no new responses, but the OP was a thoughtful guy. Read his responses.

He has got me thinking what to advise younger son, an instate auto admit who would have a crack at McCombs and maybe BHP. The OP on that thread raised some good points about Econ vs Business as a major, and the potential downside of BHP vs regular B.(Of course, my son will do what he wants, which may —horrors----may not even be at UT!)

If you are sold on going to UT and trying to decide between B and BHP, most anyone would tell you if you qualify for the HP, do that. You can always switch out.

You will need to evaluate all the options you have and make the best decision. It would help us outsiders give input if we have more information.

I do know the difference. Clearly you don’t see the difference between being a little creative to get your thread attention vs just another student looking for advise. @annie2018, not sure what your angle is, why you even care how the thread was titled, etc. You have much bigger issues that you should be focusing on. Like how in the world you think even have the slightest chance at Brown with your stats. I am even questioning how you were offered PACE with those stats, but that is a case for Jerry Springer. The more I think about @annie2018 has to be a ■■■■■.

Aww… and you’re so pretty, Glinda! but apparently with nothing better to do than live on here answering questions and look at everyone’s past postings.

Dorothy should have said, “I demand that that someone sell me why there’s no place like home!”

PS I love you too!
