<p>I know there was some discussion about selling “scrap” jewelry (gold), but wondered about this…if I have rings that I’d be willing to part with, but they have gemstones, what/how do I separate them from the base ring(s)? </p>

<p>I took in a ring with a diamond and the jeweler cut the diamond out and gave it to me. He insisted that I watch so there was no question that it was the same diamond. If you want stones taken out, go to a jeweler (not just Kay Jewelers or some such thing). Make sure you get to watch so they can’t randomly replace your stones with less valuable ones.</p>
