I went to bookscouter.com - the site that shows how much a variety of online textbook companies will pay - and on a number of my books, the best price was offered by companies that have lousy reviews elsewhere. Students have complained that companies claim the books didn’t arrive, say the books were damaged so they won’t buy them (then YOU have to pay shipping to get them back), the check never arrives or customer service won’t respond.
Has anyone had an experience with valore.com…chegg.com…or bookstores.com? Thank you.
My kid bought and sold through Amazon…and still does.
^^^ Same - Amazon for buying/selling or B and N for buying - high % of reliability and success. Ebay for selling also.
Same here. Kid used Ebay and Amazon.
Or sell to someone at one’s own college or university. No shipping costs.
Ebay and Amazon here too. I never had an issue.
My kids used Amazon with no problems.
I think S used half.com, which is a division of Amazon and was happy.
half.com is closing in the next few months. I saw that when looking for a book the other night. I guess Amazon will have fully absorbed them at that point.
That’s unfortunate–S felt their prices and offerings were better and han Amazon.com.
Do you know if Amazon will write you a check - or does it only give credit for future Amazon purchases?
Sorry, I have no idea, since S considers Amazon.com credit akin to cash, so he really doesn’t care. He buys a LOT and sell quite a bit on Amazon.com, tho that may change as policies & prices change.
I’ve used Amazon lots of times. They give credit, not checks.
My kids seem to use Amazon and Chegg but lately seem to rent textbooks rather than buy them.
We use Amazon to buy and sell. If we sell, we have proceeds transferred to bank account.
