Selling textbooks

As a parent of a graduated senior, I have the job of getting rid of old textbooks and required reading books. Does anyone know which forum is better- ebay or amazon? Or is there an another site for selling these books?

I have done very well selling on half.com. This month alone, I sold 3 books for a total of just over $235.

For easy sales Textbooks.com buys books and so does amazon. Amazon prices are often better than textbooks.com but they don’t pay cash, just Amazon credit.

You would probably get prices selling on half.com, ebay, amazon marketplace, textbooks.com marketplace (where you are using the site to selling to a 3rd party) but make sure you take into account fees etc.

half.com (which is a subsidiary of eBay)

Should read “You would probably get better prices”

amazon.com does settle in cash.

When you are selling the books to Amazon themselves (rather than to 3rd parties through the Amazon marketplace)? According to the Amazon.com textbook buyback page “An Amazon.com Gift Card will be deposited into your account upon receipt of items.” I have not found anywhere where I can opt for cash instead.

swimcatsmom,
Sorry - I misunderstood. I have sold on amazon to third parties and they settle into my checking account within two weeks. In fact, I didn’t know you could sell directly to amazon - must investigate!

^That’s right…reselling to Amazon results in credit only. Amazon Marketplace is where you get cash.

Bigwords.com is a good site to quickly see what the options are. They give current buyback prices at chegg, amazon, etc. and list the lowest price and number available at the major resale sites.
