We use a lot of seltzer and I decided to get a seltzer maker. I bought a SodaStream and it did carbonate water, but the LED display never worked and it made a high pitched noise after about 10 seconds. I returned it, but I still want a seltzer maker. Any advice/experience?

I have a Sodastream. What LED? Maybe I don’t have the deluxe model. But it works very well.

There are these lights that tell you how fizzy you’re making the water, but they never worked. How did you know when to stop carbonating? Did it make a high pitched noise?

No high pitched sound. You hold the thing down till it buzzes, then you buzz two or three more times. Then you unscrew it and shreek when it releases or better yet get your son to do it even though you shreek anyway.

Try this old-fashioned siphon (my grandfather had one, then we inherited it - it works until you break the glass!):

Sodastream works great for us. There is a new version that you can just push the bottle in the machine (no unscrewing) so less of a process when you release the bottle! Definitely less shreaking!

We’ve got the Sodastream, too, and it works great. We’ve got the equivalent of the Fountain Jet model and there are no electronics or LED display. Three or four button pushes gives plenty of carbonation.

Also have the Sodastream, without LED. It only shrieks if you over-carbonate, which is usually by pushing the button down more than 3 times.

I have a Sodastream too, no lights, and I always push the button down 5x because I like lots of fizz. It makes a psshshshshhhh sound when you release the bottle. We only used the mixers once when we first bought the machine and had fantasies of never buying another bottle/can of Diet Coke ever again. Not. We thought the mixers were pretty gross. So we use liquid water flavorers, or powders like Crystal Light to make our fizzy drinks. Yum!

We have a sodastream and love the seller. It does have a led display of co2 cartridge levels that is battery powered (button type) and we needed to replace the battery after a year.

my LED lights never worked. Was I supposed to put in a battery into my new one? That wasn’t mentioned anywhere on the instructions.

Perhaps the battery was dead when u got it? (Or not installed properly)

Thanks nj2011mom. Guess I’ll try again.
