My daughter received a 5 on Italian but a 3 on Latin Vergil. She skipped Latin 3/3H and took AP Latin Vergil (Latin 4) while in Italy her junior year. She will be taking Latin 5 during her senior year which will prepare her for the AP Literature test for next year. Will this 3 hurt her for college? Can she pick and choose which scores are sent? Should she not send the 3?

First, I don’t think it will hurt her at all; AP tests make very little difference in admissions. The important factor is that she’s taken AP classes - schools do consider the difficulty of the curriculum more than the results of the exam.

Second, AP scores are self-reported on the applications. She does not need to send the official score reports for admissions. She sends the official score reports only to the school she will attend, for credit or advanced course placement purposes, and only after she takes her senior year AP tests. By that time, of course, the 3 won’t matter; it just might not give her any credits.
