Hi, I’m going into my senior year next year, and I’ve already taken the SAT and ACT. I was planing to send my ACT scores to colleges for early admission, and then to take the ACT again so I can send those scores to colleges for regular admission. However, my school guidance counselor says that I cannot “be inconsistent” in my score reporting.

Can I send different scores at different times to different schools?

Yes, you can. If you do significantly better on the retake, you might also choose to send the retake scores to your early-application colleges as an update.

Colleges won’t even look at what you send until your application is complete anyway. It is best to send all your scores at one time to save money, but otherwise there is no objective difference. (I am aware this point doesn’t apply to you since you are applying early. I just wanted to add on.)
