Sending electronic transcripts to colleges

My kids school counsellor suggested us to electronically send her official transcripts to colleges as it might be easier. Not sure if we can send through common app or through parchment. Can you help clarify how a student /parent can send official transcripts to colleges. Planning for Nov 1 deadlines, and little worried about this step.

thanks

Do you mean dual-enrollment classes your kid took at a local college? If so, your kid should have login information through the college and be able to submit official college transcripts through their transcript service (such as Parchment). Most colleges will require a small payment for this. Check the requirements for the colleges your kid is applying to - not all of them require official transcripts for DE classes.

Thanks a lot. Its dual enrollment. we have the transcript from the high schoo. So might have to use parchment and apply through the school

Even if you apply through Common App, you can still use Parchment (or whatever service that DE school uses) to send the transcript.

Just double check with the DE school which service they use, as Parchment isn’t the only one. It should be on a page about official transcripts for that college.

Then, follow the instructions at that site to send it. If the student has applied through common app, it will all get “connected” together after the school receives the transcript. Between high school and DE, my S25 has had to use two different services to send a total of 3 transcripts to several of the schools he used common app to apply to!
