Hi,
So it was suggested to me by admissions to send in a portfolio directly to my admissions officer. I was just curious, in addition to the portfolio, what information should I include on the email so that they can match it with my application?
Your Common App ID should suffice.
If your app has been accepted, you may have received an email with an ID from the college, so give them that. Give them your full name, and if it is common, I would give your SSN.
Some schools have specific requirements for submitting an art portfolio if this is indeed what you are doing. Check the web site. Usually the portfolio is forwarded to the relevant faculty in the art dept. for their review and evaluation. If this is some other kind of portfolio, perhaps you can clarify.
It isn’t an art portfolio; I inquired about this relatively new higher level science program that I’m currently in and it was suggested to send an ePortfolio of my work ie labs, papers, etc. Thanks @intparent and @gearsstudio
Be sure to include your full name and DOB in addition to the other identifiers.
Don’t overdue what you send. The admissions officer is only going to read so much. Assume they need something they can look over in less than 5 minutes, max, and know what they are looking at.
Thank you @intparent I’ll try to make it concise and show the best of the best of my work
I would contact admissions first and find out what they will accept and what their preferred format is. And I agree with the less is more idea.
“it was suggested to send an ePortfolio of my work ie labs, papers, etc” This seems way too much. Send a one page synopsis or abstract. Your readers are NOT scientists who can evaluate the depth of your work. If something grabs their attention, they’ll contact you. Don’t send examples of lab write ups or papers. No way.
