Sending Information

The common app provides transfer students with options on sending the application online; however, how would a student submit the counselor, professor, mid-year, online if he/she is required to give each of the previously mentioned paper copies sealed that we cannot read/open. Do we send separately, or ask the professor to give everything back, so it is sent in one packet to each school? Thanks.

The mid-year and counselor forms are probably up to your counselor. You might have to give him/her envelopes and stamps to send them in though. The same is true for your counselor. You should have your professor sign his/her name over the seal of the envelope to prove that it hasn’t been tampered with.

Transfer applicants can only submit the app online, everything else is done hard copy.

Forms can either be sent to colleges separately or you can have them returned to you (in a sealed envelope signed over the seal) and you can put them in a larger envelope to send in. It really just depends on your situation and what is easiest for you and your profs, advisor, and HS GC.

Your HS and college transcripts should accompany your SSR and College report, respectively. See the directions on the form.

For the mid-year report, you fill it out and then take it around to your profs, again, the directions are at the top of the form.

What’s the SSR?

Secondary School Report, the form your HS GC fills out, you need it for transferring too although now it’s called the Secondary School Final Report since your sr grades are complete.

When do we send the mid-term report to the colleges? Lastly, the common app allows for the instructor evaluation to be from a secondary school teacher, so is this referring to a high school teacher?

For the midterm report, first check the website of the colleges for instructions. If they don’t have any, submit it when your mid sem/qt grades are ready. An exception would be if there is an early decision date for a school, then call the school to ask when to submit it.

Please read the top line of the IE form, it doesn’t say a SS teacher can submit. Do any of the college websites state that a HS teacher is OK for the IE form? Unless the school states on their website that HS teachers are acceptable or any other requirements, then you follow the instructions on the CA IE form.
