Sending letters to admissions office.

I was wondering if sending letters to the admissions office would help anything?
would they even look at it?
my situation is that my average before diploma exams(worth 50 % of the whole mark) was 92, but after the exams, i ended up with a 86.
however with my calculus mark being 95, my mark currently is 88% applying to McGill Science.
I was wondering if writing a letter saying i’ll rewrite two of my diploma exams will increase my chances of getting in?
these letters will either be written by me, or hopefully, by the councellor.
any input will be appreciated, thanks

I also sent McGill extra information, and when I called the admissions office the representative said it was fine if i sent in additional materials. I got accepted, so there is nothing to lose by sending the letter in.
