Sending Mid-Year Grades?

Hi, I’m a US student who applied to McGill for Fall 2024 in January (a little later, I know), and I’m confused because I got an email telling me that they need me to upload my mid-year results. Since I applied in January, I already entered the grades on my transcript for the first semester that ended in December. So I don’t have any new grades to add, at least not until mid-March when midterm grades for my new classes this semester become available.

I think the confusion is due to my high school’s term schedule. We take 4 classes per semester (like Aug-Dec and Jan-May), and that counts as a full year of credit for the class. On my transcript it shows two grades for each class, one for the each “semester” (which is actually only 9 weeks long). Anyway, on Minerva, the only way to enter both grades for my senior year was to categorize each course as “Semester- Fall and Winter Only” even when my classes are technically only in the fall or the spring. For example, I started my AP Lit class in the Winter and won’t get my first “semester” grade until mid-March, but they must want me to enter a mid-year grade since I was forced to categorize it as a “Fall and Winter” class to be able to eventually enter two grades when I have them by the end of the year.

Has anyone run into a similar situation? I was at McGill last week for a campus tour and I talked to an admissions advisor who said she’d look into it and send me an email, however it’s been a few days and I haven’t gotten anything from her. I don’t know if I should try to contact Service Point, continue waiting for her to email me, or what. I just don’t want to be penalized/rejected because I’m technically missing information that I just won’t have until after their deadline to upload additional documents.

Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I would email them, or if you remember the admissions counselor who said she would look into it then email her. I would say something along the lines - thank you for taking the time to talk with me, I appreciate your willingness/helpfulness to look into my grades being submitted, please let me know what additional information I can provide- and if you have it- attached is a PDF of my grades etc. Always, always put stuff like that in writing to make sure it doesn’t get missed and that you have proof.
