So as some of you may know, the SAT is getting a “major redesign” in late 2014. I was planning on finishing my SAT in either late 2013 or early to mid 2014. At first I thought that now I should take the ACT but now THEY have announced a change starting 2015.

So pretty much my question is how would it work if people sent their potentially pre-redesign scores to colleges in say 2016/2017? Would it differentiate them somehow?

As a reference, how did this work in 2005 when people had to send their 1600 score to colleges in, say, 2007 or something? Were the scores viewed as the “same?”

Thanks. This was bothering me for some time so I would appreciate some insight on the issue.

Oh wow I didn’t know about that. I would take the SAT asap because it would be harder to study for the ‘new’ SAT.

Hmm, I’m interested to know this, too. I’m planning to sit for the SAT and start sending in applications this year though, so I’m not sure if it will affect me…

Just to put it out there, here are some links regarding the changes:

ACT:

(Computer-based testing sounds great, but the “virtual tasks”… I don’t know) Relatively though, the ACT change seems “kinder” than the SAT change.

If anyone on CC took the pre-2006 SAT, how did the issue (First post) work then? (Are those people still on here?)

Bump. Any help at all on this would be appreciated.
