After I submit my midyear grades online, I’m supposed to do this:

“You must send under separate cover, a copy of your official report card received from your high school.”

…what’s the separate cover??

(Is it just like a plain piece of white paper? If it is…I’m going to feel silly)

That just means it is sent in separately, or in addition to, your self-report. The “cover” part refers to the cover letter that is usually sent with business correspondence to identify what is being sent and direct it to the proper department.

For your report card copy, a plain piece of white paper sent with it would be fine. You would write on that paper something like:

RE: Mid-year report

Dear USC Office of Admissions,

Enclosed is my mid-year report. Please let me know if there is anything else you need to consider my application for admission.

Thank you,

Bob

Wow, got it, thank you : )

Also, thank you for the professional-looking format…I’m definitely using that :D

haha i’m using that too if you don’t mind.

Do the midyear grades effect admission that much? Because I’m pretty sure I had a very good chance of getting into USC, but this past semester I dropped drastically and received four Bs, instead of the 6 straight A’s I usually get…I’m really worried because now they’ve asked me to submit my report and I hope they do not change their decision!! Any reassurances?

Do they want a report card or is a transcript ok?

A copy of your report card or a transcript is fine. The transcript does not have to be official.

Wow alamemom I just caught you in time : )

I made a copy of my report card, and it says “unauthorized copy” all over it…looks kinda tacky.
I’m thinking of sending my transcript online (b/c that’s how my school does it), but does USC specifically require the report card/transcript through mail? Or is online fine?

Any way you get it there is fine!

The tangible report card only needs to be sent if it is specifically requested, right?

What I got was a paragraph in my sorry-no-scholarship letter that said "Also, if you have not already done so, please submit the grades you earned from the first grading period of your senior year. For your convenience, you may submit your grades online at www.usc.edu/midyeargrades"

I have done that. Is that enough?

Never mind, I’ve found where it says to send the report card on the website.
