My Son is getting ready to fill out the Common App. He has a question about sending the SAT scores now or later. He is happy with the SAT subjects, but not the SAT I and is planning to re-take it in October. He will apply ED to UPENN and EA to MIT and other EA top schools. He is not sure wheather he should be sending all the SAT scores he has now and send the Oct. score later when it is ready. Can anyone please kindly give us some advice? Thank you, any input is much appreciated.

Isn’t MIT SCEA? Also, you can only choose ED or EA, not both. Colleges require that for EA, you must have freedom to choose your school, which ED does not give you.

As for your original question, GodisLove, it doesn’t matter when he sends the scores, as long as they’re there by the deadline. When they get the first part of your son’s application–whether it’s something he submits personally, or standardized test scores, or whatever–they’ll start a file, and they’ll add other items to that file as they come in.

@OP: Penn is very specific as that ALL test scores must be sent. Thus, regardless if he takes the October SAT, he MUST send all SAT and SAT-II (subject) exam scores from 9th grade to now. Junior high scores, obviously, don’t count.

Thanks everyone for your responses! Yes, MIT is not scea, so we can apply ED to UPenn & EA to other EA unrestrict schools. So since UPENN wants all scores, then my son just send whatever SAT scores he has now, right? and to all other EA schools too? just want to make sure. Thanks.

I dont get this. Since all scores need to be submitted, he can directly submit the scores after the October test (using free 4 reports). Then ALL the accumulated scores including the October exam goes , right?

Penn ED latest testing date accepted is October I guess.

Why do it in 2 phases since anyway he has to send the october scores again .
