Sending SAT Scores and what to do after submitting applications?

Is it okay to send SAT scores after the RD deadline? Also, do I have to check if the school wants self-reported or can I just send an official report to every school I’m applying to (I have a fee waiver so it would be free)?

Can someone give me a checklist of what I need to do after submitting college applications? Is it okay if my counselor submits my transcript after the deadline? I’m scared I’ll miss a deadline or forget to ask my counselor to send something.

If the school is self report, do that. You want to see the score b4 you send it in.

Check each school’s admission website for materials deadlines - they’ll tell you the deadline for each item. Some allow delays of certain items like test score after the app is due.
Others don’t.

I took the SAT in March of this year so I know my score. Does self-report just mean putting my score in the “testing” section of the common app?

Yes. Once you commit to a school you’d submit. If it’s free and you want to send now it won’t hurt.

If you have your score now, why would you be reporting them after the RD deadline?

You have to check each school’s website to see if they require official scores, or allow self reporting. As tsbna said, self report on the common app testing page where you can (assuming you are not applying test optional). Then send official scores to each school that needs that. Send those now. Don’t wait.

After you apply to each school, you will receive instructions to set up your portal…sometimes within a day, sometimes takes a few days. Check your spam folder. Once your portal is set up you want to make sure that the school has everything they need…there is typically something like a dashboard/main page showing all the requirements and if you have satisfied them. Many schools use green check marks to show completed items. Check your portals once per week. Check your email EVERY DAY.

In terms of missing deadlines, don’t, just don’t. Create a spreadsheet with RD deadlines, deadlines for things like transcripts and LoRs, and financial aid deadlines.

That’s ok at some schools, and NOT ok at other schools. Again, you have to check each school’s website…then put those requirements on your spreadsheet.
