I am SO confused as to when to send scores and where to send them.
Here are the schools I am applying to:

Stanford: REA
UC Berkeley
UCLA
UCSD
Harvard
Carnegie Mellon
Cornell
MIT
UChicago or Caltech (which one should I apply to for Comp Sci?)
UIUC
USC
Santa Clara
NYU

My score available scores are:
Jan 2013: 2250 (690 CR/770M/790W, 11 essay)
June 2013: 790 M2C/750 Bio

Score I am expecting:
October 2013: USH

I know I have to send scores ASAP, and Stanford is due Nov. 1 so I plan to send them tonight or tomorrow.

1) Should I send my scores to ALL the colleges I am applying to? Could it be too early (Jan 1-15 deadlines)?
2) Do I have time to look at my USH score and then send them?
3) When should I send my USH scores?

You could send scores now to any of them. A college starts an admission file on you upon receipt of any part of the file, including test scores, and then matches other things to that file as they arrive. As to when you actually need to send scores, you should likely do so now to any EA school to which you are applying – Standord has single choice EA but an exception is that Stanford allows you to also apply EA to public universities, such as UIUC. For the others, you need to send scores when you apply (or a couple weeks earlier if you wait until the last minute before the app deadline to apply)

You should send SAT scores at least 2-4 weeks before deadline. Then you will have a chance to track the delivery and take some action in case something goes wrong. There is no such thing as too early.

I am applying to BC, Umich, and Villanova Early Action- deadline November 1st, and I havn’t sent SAT’s yet. I took the SATs in June and got a 2100 (580R, 720M, 800W), and I retook them in October to get my reading score up. I missed the deadline to have CB automatically send my October scores. Can I afford to wait until October 24th to send those scores?? Or should I just send my June scores now to be sure?? Thank you!

Send June scores now and then send October immediately after release. Biggest risk is Mich which wants scores in its hands by the deadline date and not just sent by that date but good (but not certain) chance that will occur if you order Oct scores sent immediately upon release.

Thank you drusba. I sent my June scores to Umich today, and will rush the october scores on the 24th. do you think i could just send both my june and october scores to bc/nova without rush on oct 24th?

Villanova accepts through the October test and scores can arrive after Nov 1 so you can just order scores sentregular delivery as soon as the Oct scores are released. BC takes through the Nov test for EA and thus ordering scores sent after Oct score comes out is also fine.

Drusba - if the student sends the Jun scores now to a school and then sends the Oct test scores in 2 weeks, aren’t they paying twice? Which could mean as much as $50 extra if they are sending twice to 5 schools. I would think to just wait- who can afford to throw away $50 even if it’s peanuts in the scheme of things it seems extremely wasteful.

The cost would be high. The suggestion I made was to send only to Mich now, not the others and wait on those. Mich wants scores in its hands by Nov 1, the others take them if they arrive later.
