Sending scores early

I sent my scores out to a few colleges this spring and I’ve gotten a good response from RIT.
Do all colleges usually respond after being sent scores early? I’m wondering if the other schools I sent them to are just not impressed.

What do you mean “sent scores early”? I assume they just put them in a file for you along with your application materials. Did RIT write you a specific letter or is it something like “congrats on your excellent scores…”. If it’s the latter, it’s probably because they got your name through CB’s service.

I sent it in the spring of Junior year. Which is kind of early I guess since I’m taking them again…
But yeah, the letter from RIT was different from those that are sent through collegeboard. But it was basically telling me that with my scores I would qualify for certain scholarships.

Anyway, I was just wondering if this was a normal thing and if it’s bad if a school doesn’t reply after you submit your scores to them.

Don’t worry, it is quite normal for colleges to not respond after you submit your scores.

I never knew you were allowed to send scores early! If I’m happy with my SAT scores, should I send them to Amherst now to express interest? And will they stay on file until I apply in November?

Yeah they’ll keep it on file (:

I don’t think there is any advantage or disadvantage to sending them early. They will keep them on file if they receive them prior to receiving your application. If you are planning to take the SATs again, I would wait to see if you want to use score choice. If not, go ahead and send the scores. But don’t expect a response from most schools.
