Hello! I recently just got my score back from the October test and I’m not quite sure which scores to send. I also have no plans of retaking any of these tests. For some context here are the schools I’m applying to and my scores:
SAT May: 770 M 730 R/W 1500 total
SAT June 750 M 750 R/W 1500 total
SAT August Math 2: 800
SAT October Bio E: 670
SAT August Physics: 660
ACT April: R: 29 W: 31 M: 33 S: 33 C: 32
ACT June: R: 35 W: 35 M: 31 S: 34 C: 34
Schools I’m Applying To:
EA: SUNY Bing, Fordham, WPI, UChicago, Case Western
RD: Amherst College, Johns Hopkins, Tufts, Stevens, Cornell
For each of the science subject tests I had to self study, as I had only taken a non-AP physics class and the last biology class I took was in 8th grade. This is sort of scary because I’m planning on majoring in biomedical engineering or biology. However, I am taking AP Bio this year and I should be able to get an A to make up for it. Of the schools on my list Cornell, Stevens, Fordham, and Bing are the only ones who require official scores. But the time to send them is pretty much right now so I’d appreciate any help deciding which ones to send!
I assume you are not an international student. First things first, EA deadlines are soon so if a school requires official scores you need to order them.
Fordham will allow official or GC certified results (often just a print out of your scores that GC sends to admissions), but time is so tight (12 business days or so) for EA it’s probably best to send Fordham official scores TODAY. I would send both SAT scores and your math 2 subject test. I don’t think you need to pay to send ACT as well, as 34 = 1490-1520 SAT.
Official scores, RD schools:
Stevens needs official scores, but their superscore policy seems unclear. Since that RD app is not due until 1/15, you might email your regional AO for guidance.
For Cornell, send both SAT I test results for RD (jan 2 deadline). Required SAT subject tests depend on the school you are applying to. If arts and sciences, you have to send two subject tests. You can check the actual percentile rank of your Bio-E and Physics scores, but the 670 bio is historically better than the 660 in Physics, so I would send Bio-E. I don’t think you have to send your ACT scores or the third subject test per the Cornell website. Again you do have time on this one to talk with your AO and/or GC
I didn’t check to see if all your schools use the common app, but for the ones that do, they will see all of your ACT and SAT I and II scores that you enter in the common app. I would enter the SAT math subject test, but not bio-e or physics. Some people may recommend you self-report two subject test scores for JHU and Amherst, but I would just report the math 2 score. Of course, the final decision is yours (maybe talk with you GC)
