Due to a long series of events, I am now a freshman at ISU wishing to transfer to UIUC by next year. My high school record is UIUC worthy–I just didn’t apply for freshman admission. Two questions:
A) Recommendation Letters: who should I ask for? If college professors, how can I ask them for a recommendation if I have only known them for a month or two?
B) Rolling Admissions: when is the best time to apply? If I apply in September, would they not see my final grades first semester?
Do they accept transfers for second semester? If so, then you should check the due date for those applications. Contact them and ask if they would even need any info from ISU in that case.
Since you plan on transferring, you need to make an effort to get to know your professors. Participate in class. Attend office hours. Show up for study sessions. When you know for certain that you will be applying for transfer, and that you do need some letters of recommendations, then you can make individual appointments with the professors who you already know, and discuss your transfer plans.
Do you mean does the transfer application deadline go into the second semester? If so, yes. Their admissions go into march, so should I wait until I get my final grades for my first semester to apply?
Also, can you specify what you mean by “info from ISU”?

Start by getting information on the transfer process from these online resources. Call admissions to clarify any confusion. As far as I can see, UIUC doesn’t even look at recommendations. (I believe this is true for freshman admissions as well.) On the other hand, your grades are supremely important, as well as course selection- certain majors are looking for specific classes. Also, make sure the major you want to transfer into, is actually accepting applicants.
Wow that’s weird I didn’t realize they don’t even mention college recommendations.
