i live in california, and i know i have a bad grade but i really don’t want to go cc…

i have someleadership experiences and
volunteering hours that is related to what i want to do in college.
so… any private colleges, CSUs, UCs(i’m not really thinking of it anymore but if…)
and if i can bring up my grade on my senior year(since i chose the easiest classes for gpa)
would there be a chance…?

stat:
gpa: 3.0
one AP: AP comp sci

leadership:
3 years - officer in Korean culture club(currently got accepted as senior rep)
2 years- music mentor vice president for middle school students

volunteer:
3years (about …400 hrs) - fair trade store that is only one in California
1 year (about 200 hrs) - staff in children institution
3 years(about 100 hrs) - outdoor orchestra group that visited to retirement houses

ps. I have finished two essays, so if anyone wants to read and give me feedback, please PM me.

The average GPA at CSUs range from around 2.8 to 3.2 so I don’t think you’ll have to worry about going to a CC.

However, you do still have a chance at UCs! They make their admissions decisions on GPA and SAT combined. Do you believe you can bring your SAT score a little bit higher? It might help you secure a few acceptances to some of these. However, I’m guessing that you’re Korean…which won’t really help in that area. Just make sure your essays are as amazing as they possibly can be and try to highlight other parts of your application other than your stats.

Now some private colleges are very high reaches for you, but some aren’t! After all, some are way more difficult/easier to get into. Look into the stats of the students accepted at a variety of private colleges and see if you could see yourself at some of these schools. Don’t give up hope, you still have a lot of options available to you. :)

bump!
p.s i forgot to write down some of the SAT IIs that i took last year:
SAT Korean 800
SAT Japanese 800
SAT Math level 1 800

maybe bring up more chances?

i’m thinking of having education or psychology/counseling as a future major,
but would it be better to apply as “undeclared” to bring up my chances?

The Korean is useless seeing as you are Korean and most likely speak it. Do you speak japenese? If you do, that’s useless as well. Math Level I is good though. I would say you have a chance at the lower UCs and the CSUs.

bump!
well i don’t speak Japanese, took Japanese class for three years
thinking of taking french SAT this november, since I’ve been self studying for couple years.

any chance for me for riverside and merced?

I can’t say for myself but I know a senior (im a junior going on senior this fall) who got into UCR with a 3.1 GPA, although he had good etc it looks like you do to, and he had a sat score of 2050.
