senior in college too busy to ever be in a relationship

Throughout high school my tenure in academia I was caught up in my own little problems. I suffered a major depressive relapse in high school and in the middle of college. This is co-morbid with my cyclical seasonal bipolar (SAD) that pops up at the end of fall and throughout winter.

I have never been a relationship due to this. I actually prefer solitude and not have to worry about other peoples problems when I need to take care of me. However, my roommate thinks I’m gay and some of my family members do as well.

I’m a 21 year old male and I don’t drink really and neither go out to bars. By the time I finished everything in my studies and worked out, I’m physically and emotionally exhausted, and I need just to watch television or sleep. During the winter, I sleep even more and just go to classes and study; plus, I tend to be more on edge and say inappropriate things sometimes to other people (and not realize it).

I mean it is not because of my looks or personality. I take care of my body. I’ve had many girls hit on me, but I honestly do not know how to respond AT ALL.

I’ll be a senior this year and I think I might have some time for a relationship. The question is: I really do not know how. I mean it starts from baby steps in high school about people asking each other out right? I don’t have anything I can use as a reference to build off.

Any advice for me would be much appreciated, thanks!

read this book, it will give you the basics that you can use to start conversations with people, my personal method that i use to get girl that most guys use is

Approach the girl (this is where confidence comes in

get to know her

ask her out to somewhere non-sexual like a study group or library

ask her out to somewhere more exclusive such as diner

the rest should flow in naturally but you basically kiss her and BAM! that easy! if you need any help or have more to the situation that i dont know about, feel free to PM me

up the post maybe-anyone else???

Don’t worry about “getting into a relationship” just yet. Take this one step at a time. Step 1 is finding someone you are interested in dating. Start going to bars, or join OkCupid. Ask girls to grab coffee or lunch, then move on to dinner and a show. If, after a month or two of going out with a particular person, you decide you like her enough that you’d like to be “exclusive” with her, THEN start worrying about how to handle a relationship.

If you go out meeting girls thinking “relationship relationship relationship” you might come across as a little TOO into it. Instead, think of it as getting to know new, female, people :-)

Also, don’t think of women as an alien species. They’re just like you, only female. Start thinking of girls hitting on you – which I assume means trying to strike up conversation with you – as just regular people talking to you. It’ll make you feel more relaxed. Pretend it’s your friend!

i know that woman are not alien species… the problem is I think most people are so foreign to me (not just woman); maybe it is just americans who knows. I tried the okcupid thing for kicks and giggles… I doubt i will find anyone who I’m interested though. Dating sites and other superficial ways of getting to know people scare me
