senior superlatives

Do colleges care if you have been voted for a particular superlative?
I have been voted as the most talented student in my senior class and i believe that it would make a nice addition to my application. Only problem is that i do not know where i can add this anywhere on my application…

Well…talented for what? You’d have to say specifically what that talent refers to…

It would be a nice, brief mention probably. It wouldn’t be treated as an award or anything though, I don’t think.

its not specific to anything but I’m assuming people voted for me on the basis of my art, music, and ability to speak four languages.

Its more or less trivial but i guess you could include it.

No … it’s really not something that is relevant to what they want to know about you. It’s not an academic award.

thats true, the senior class votes for you its not as if colleges pick you out and vote you the most talented out of a group of seniors who applied. the votes dont include your friends, but real officials who can make a real decisicion.

instead of mentioning “most talented,” can you mention that you’re awesome and talented at art, music, and speak four languages? i think it might come off a bit … say trivial if you mention “by the way, i was voted most talented.” it might come off as even a bit prideful. definitely definitely mention the four language part somewhere somehow though.

I’d mention it somewhere. So many of the college supplemental essays seem to ask in one way or another, what will you add to our campus? The fact that other students in your class know about and admire these things about you show that you are known, recognized and liked for your talents. I assume classmates wouldn’t have voted for you if they didn’t also like you and admire you.

Some applications ask, of all the things in the EC list that you’ve mentioned, which is most important to you. You might consider putting the things themselves (if they fit) into the regular slots for ECs and interests and then in the question where they ask which is the most important to you, talk about the fact that you are proud that you’ve not only had a great academic record, but that people recognize those other aspects of you and like/admore you.

To me that shows you’d add something to the campus.
