Senior Willing to Answer Questions

“ryanbis- i understand that most people going for th bsba in SMG do not choose the international finance concentration. I was wondering if one concentration is more competitive than the other and also if SMG is harder to get into that the other colleges at BU? How much harder?”

I’m not sure what you mean by international finance concentration. There’s an international management concentration and a finance concentration–I’m not aware of anything called international finance.

I’m also not sure what you mean by competitive. If you’re talking in terms of difficulty, I can’t really compare beyond accounting and finance (since those were my two concentrations). I did find that accounting was a bit more challenging that finance. If you’re asking about competitive in terms of job prospects, then accounting and finance tend to be the most desired.

Keep in mind that everyone in SMG gets the same degree and takes the same business courses with the exception of their four electives (which determine their concentration).

As for SMG being harder to get into, generally yes; however, I’m not admissions and I have no idea about what goes into the admission process (especially since things are different today than when I applied years ago), so I don’t like to speculate on admissions-type questions.
