Senior year grade

Hey guys, I’m wondering that does senior year grades matters a lot or not. My mid year report is bad because first quarter was football season. We practiced from 2 to 6 everyday after school, so I had a little time for studying, which unfortunately made I had some Cs for first quarter. Because of these Cs my mid year report is a straight B… But I take all the AP classes and I know that my advantages is not on academic anyway. Will my bad mid year report like mine hurt my application a lot? If I got in, is having a straight B for senior year a significant drop for Duke or other top schools? Please help me. Thank you!

Yes, it’s likely to detract from your application. All of the best Liberal arts colleges and nationally ranked comprehensive universities have an abundance of stellar applicants; therefore, a decrease in academic performance of this sort – and especially in your senior year – is almost certain to be adversely noted.

Further, Obi, it’s easy to tell that your foregoing question was rushed (there are several grammatical errors and even some confusion concerning what you’re asking). If you’re truly ready to attend first-rank college or university, I respectfully suggest you should also be ready to write accurately and articulately. You hope posters will take the time to respond with clarity; don’t you owe them the same courtesy? I’m not trying to give you a hard time, however, I am suggesting that excellent communications – a VITAL life-skill – are habitual . . . and so, too, are sloppy, ineffective communications.
