Hi!
I’m trying to decide my schedule for next year, and I’m a little confused. My ultimate goal would be to go to either University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, or U of I Urbana. Preferably Urbana because of instate tuition. Also, I’m not 100% sure, but I think I may want to major in finance, and minor in computer engineering.
Right now, I know I have to take these classes for sure:
- AP Calc AB
- Spanish 3
- PE
- AP Lit and Comp.
- Lunch
So, as you can see, I have three empty spaces. I want to pick from:
- AP Stats
- AP Comp Sci
- Psych/Finance
- POE (principles of engineering)
- Chamber Orchestra
My dad suggested to take AP Comp Sci just to see if I’d be interested in it, because it also has a great job outlook. I am in orchestra right now, but I got into the same group next year, so I don’t really see the point of taking it. Also, I just really hate going to class, and dread playing the violin, but I really want a senior plaque, and it looks good for colleges. I just want to quit though, and do it out of school and try and get a scholarship from that, because my teacher at school absolutely sucks the soul out of me. My dad also said POE is a little too broad, and he was an engineering major. He said that it won’t give me a real great idea if I like engineering or not, because it’s too vague.
This is the description for POE from my school catalog: This survey course of engineering exposes students to some of the major concepts they will encounter in a postsecondary engineering course of study. Students investigate engineering and high-tech careers and develop skills and understanding of course concepts. Students employ engineering and scientific concepts in the solution of engineering design problems. Students learn to document their work and communicate their solutions to peers and members of the professional community. A lab fee will be charged.
Other than that, I’m thinking about being a finance major like I mentioned, so I wanted to take Finance to see if I’d like it. I also put psych cause they’re both a semester and psych seems interesting.
