Hello guys,
I couldnt understand the structure of this sentence and I didnt understand the exact meanings of the words bold agressive and their relation with the word comfortable.
And what is the exact meaning of the word bland and if it is the true answer what is its relation with the rest of the sentence.
Really I saw in dictionaries I couldnt understand exactly the meanings of these words and the relation between them. I think I need help from an english native speaker.

Here is the question

Her memoirs are quite unlike those of her predecessors,
for she is bold and aggressive where
they are ____ and comfortable.
(A) audacious
(B) vivid
(C) bland
(D) brazen
(E) contentious

You’re looking for a word that is the opposite of bold and aggressive and also a synonym of comfortable. That eliminates D and E, since brazen means impudent and contentious means intended to argue.

A and B are not synonyms of comfortable. Audacious means favorable, while vivid means full of life. Both of those words have no relevance to this sentence.

Therefore, the answer is C: bland, which means gentle. Gentle is indeed opposite of aggressive and a synonym of comfortable.

@eagle, I think youre confusing audacious with auspicious. Auspicious means favorable whereas audacious means bold.

You can eliminate audacious right away since you are looking for anotonyms. You need an antonym for bold and aggresive. Only bland fits, which means gentle
