separating military to college

Forum,

I will be separating the military in March 2021. I want to transfer to either University of Texas at Austin or Texas A&M for Business/Finance. I have my AA and a little bit more so will complete the pre-reqs for my major. I have a 3.5 GPA while being a soldier. I am a E5/Sergeant with managing 2 Huge Army Dental Clinics for 6 years in total. I know both schools are competitive for admissions but I would love to know realistically what are my chances. I would like to start having a concrete plan in place before I separate from the Army.

For these schools, most business students are chosen as freshmen. They let in a handful of transfers every year, but it’s cutthroat competitive with a very low acceptance rate. UT, for instance, the average GPA for a competitive transfer applicant for the business school is about 3.9. All of that is published on UT’s website. It’s the same story with Texas A&M. It’s worth applying but the odds are not in your favor.

You’ll want to apply to other schools like Texas Tech, U of H, Texas State, etc. These schools are great business programs that are more fair to their students.
