September 2010 ACT Science Discussion

@golfer111 it would be 75% if a TT or Tt determined the trait, but student 2 specifically said that tt carried the trait. so since both people were Tt, you get TT Tt Tt and tt.

oh ****. I misread it. lol

^Exactly kai427, if you cross two individuals who are both Tt, you get 75% carried and 25% not carried

so thats -2 on science for me. ■■■. At least i have another shot in october. I didn’t even prep effectively for this test. I tried cramming everything in lol I’ll make sure i use up all 12 practice tests. I have 9 left lol

@airfreshener yeah so i think it was 25% then cause tt is carries the trait not TT or Tt

that’s what i said.

I put 100% and I’m 100% sure it’s the right answer

^totz agreed wwith HeWhoPwnz. ap bio ftw.

^I thought that the question was basing itself off of student 2’s conjectures, which meant that the shaded circles/squares were both tt, so the offspring has to be tt.

Student 2 didn’t leave any room for tt or Tt; it was just tt.

tt carries traits according to student 2, not Tt or TT

ppl who put 75% are certain with their answers
ppl who put 100% are certain with their answers

wats the answerrrrr

■■■…was it just me or was science like…fricken hard this time? The last 2 times I took the ACT science was never even close to being this hard…

@ nevergiveup16…it’s 100%. and actually i should have said i’m 110% sure not 100% lawl

guys, student 2 said tt carries the trait, not TT or Tt. 25%

@ HeWhoPwnz, i don’t think it was necessarily harder. i just think the curve is a big fat b***h, like seriously on ANY other section 2 wrong is a 34 which is great but on science 2 wrong is like a freakin 32…so science does damage to my composite

^False.

tt carries the trait, so 2 people that carry the trait would be tt and tt, meaning that the offspring is guaranteed to be tt.

It’s 100%.

Wow 2 of the questions in the science section has managed to divide CC on a consolidated answer Lol. Def a hard science section. For the record, i put 100%, but I’m not 100% sure lol.

I’m 100^100% sure it’s 100%.

i’m just gonna explain it so that hopefully people can accept that the answer is SURELY 100%.

student 2 believed that in order to have trait T, you MUST have the tt genotype. the two people in the question who were gonna have offspring BOTH had trait T (their boxes were colored which indicates having the trait). THUS their cross can be represented by tt x tt. just do the math, that cross results in 100% of the offspring having trait T.

That one has to be 100%. Both parents have tt genotype. They have no choice but to pass down a t allele. So, the child will ALWAYS have a tt genotype. It is 100%

Any consensus on the mesh bag problem??
