Same composite as last time, but at least my superscore went up 1 point…
still no score for me? anyone else still waiting?
I hope I get my writing score before the October test
I got a 34!
35 (even though 18 and 18…)/ 33 (down one) / 32 / 36
Still have no scores.
Did anyone out there receive their writing scores yet?
No score! Still quality assurance!!!
Still no writing scores
got multiple choice 2 weeks ago
Does anyone understand how the section scores are computed from the subscores (out of 18)? All of those smaller sections I’ve gotten 18’s but I ended up with a 35 on everything.
So I got 11 on all four section scores in the essay, but I got 31 on the overall essay score. Is that possible? If so, how does the transition between 12 point grade to 36 point grade work with essay?
31 essay is 98th percentile. On the old scale, a 10 was the 99th percentile. A 9 was 95th percentile. So, your 31probably translates to a 10. Very weird to see 11’s across the board. That means that the readers did not agree on any of the scores!
My S got 11,11,11,12 but 31 overall. I guess given it is a new format, they may be still trying to figure out how to compute score!
Scores arrived this afternoon - on a Thursday. Son had the quality assurance message for over two weeks. Today he received both the multiple choice and writing scores. Maybe they were waiting for the writing to release the scores.
A question for those who know better then us:
Son is applying to engineering schools. April 2014 composite was 28, but math was 24. September 2015 composite was 27, but math was 29. Should he send both scores to colleges - April for the higher composite but September for the (much) higher math?
@ScreenName000000 Depends what engineering schools. Not meaning to be rude, but for STEM kids, 29 math won’t cut it. What’s his science score? He should try to have his STEM at least 30+ (bare minimum), and preferably 33+. Check to see if the school superscores.
@golfcashoahu, thanks for the reply. He is applying for Mechanical Engineering at both Cal Poly SLO and Pomona, WPI, OSU, Michigan Tech, Clemson, maybe VIrginia Tech and a few other CSU/UC schools. He scored 29 on science in April, but only 24 in September. GPA is 3.76 UW, 3.94 weighted, with straight A’s in his high school STEM classes. He is currently taking honors calculus as well as college algebra through a local junior college.
We’ll see how he scored on the October SAT soon and he is taking the Math 2 subject test in November. If the ACT is his highest, he will probably be best off sending both even though it seems like very few schools superscore the ACT. He did not get through the whole science section in September after finding it relatively easy in April.
FINALLY mine came in today.

My composite, reading, and science all went up significantly from my first time so I’m incredibly pleased with those, my english and math went up a couple points as well. however, my english dropped 7 points from last time (29)??? I’m a huge English/Writing person (4 on AP lang, 10/12 SAT essay, 9/12 ACT essay last time, etc), so this definitely came as a shock. Should I bother with a rescore or will colleges look at the other parts of my app and acknowledge the circumstances with the new essay?
Still have not received my writing smh
@happywadob First, remember that a 22 is an 80, not a 70 or 75. Second, you have good English and Reading scores, which show you’re a solid performer. Also, I was talking to a college admissions person the other day who said they were not putting much weight into the writing scores this year because it’s new (this is at a STEM school). Hope this helps:-)
Still didn’t get my writing score
