When are writing scores coming out!??!? Haha I’m hoping for like high 20s. Got a 34 composite, but I think I pretty much bombed the writing.
I already emailed my schools saying my ACT writing hadn’t come out yet, and inquiring if they would still view my application even though it’s incomplete. What should I do? I’m SO stressed out.
Me too…I’m super stressed about this problem. @nervousinMD4224 Are you planning to apply early decision too?
We are in the same boat, needing the scores by Nov 1. First off, you need to order them so they will be sent as soon as the writing is up. If electronic transmission, the schools will receive them in 24 hours. We called each school, most of which have been accommodating, making a note in the application file of the delay, if not out by next wed, we will send an email as an addendum to the application to admissions with a screen shot of the scores. This way they have legit proof of what is going on. All but one school said that was fine. We are also asking the ACT folks to let schools know somehow that there has been this delay because of the new writing prompt so it comes from them. Hoping they will stand up and do that. Never again will one of my kids take a Sept ACT!!!
Does anyone know what a 24 writing score converts to on the old scale? the SUNYAPP only takes the old format scores
For those waiting - keep checking. DS2 got his this am so it seems like they are gradually getting them out
Still waiting…
@truAlpha, take your writing score and divide by 3 to get comparable score under old method. A 24 would convert to an 8.
Still no writing score. I hate the ACT.
@TruAlpha a 24 converts to an 88 on the current scale. The only thing I could find regarding the old writing scale is in this link http://www.act.org/aap/pdf/ACTWritingConcordance.pdf
Perhaps someone else some better info:-)
@gameover
How do you request scores to be sent electronically to institutions? I’ve ordered the 4 free score reports which include my EA school (Nov 1st deadline), but my writing scores aren’t out yet and how do you know if the schools accept electronic transmission?
If I don’t get writing scores tomorrow I’m gonna start hitting things
You should call or email intended school. They can let you know how they receive scores.
Yes that is what I did and it relieved some stress on some of the schools…but not all. BTW, ACT changed their recording to state that if you are calling about your writing scores, they are trying their hardest to get those scores out…Blah, Blah, Blah. So obviously a lot of students are have problems getting their scores. This is just insane!!
Just got my writing scores back today (3 weeks after i got MC).
35 C: 36 E 35 M 35 R 34 S and 29 W
Hopefully colleges will be lenient with the new writing and won’t put much emphasis on it. I don’t know what to make of the 29 as this was my first time taking the ACT.
…And now I am making sure they sent out scores for the previous tests taken
and they keep hanging up on me. This company is beyond incompetent. Any juniors out there…concentrate on the SATs!!!
Ordered scores on Oct 15th for previous tests (still waiting for September scores) and the score reports have not been sent to the schools yet. They go out Monday,Wednesday and Fridays. I didn’t realize it takes over a week for them the send the schools the score report. Ugh.
I wonder if they send them out the same day they are reported? That would help…
Sounds like they don’t send the scores out the day they are reported. But one can hope . . .
